Bike Songs

March 23, 2007

After finding the Bike Rock Music artist I was thinking about the 70’s band Queen and the words “I want to ride my bicycle” started echoing in my brain. I began to wonder how many bike related songs actually exist. Thanks to the internet and Good Search search engine here is my list so far. Feel free to add comment with additions if you know of any. I can’t personally vouch for the validity of all these songs, but you are welcome to find them and let me know if any of them need to be deleted from this list. Read the rest of this entry ?

First Pictures of our Grandchild

March 23, 2007

Yesterday we recieved a wonderful email from out oldest son and his wife with pictures of our grandchild. The technology that lets us peer into the womb of the mother is incredible.  Truly we are fearfully and wonderfully made!

When we recieved the pictures I just sat and stared.  I am in awe.

Bike Rock Music?

March 21, 2007

Attila Horvath has put together an album of songs related to cycling.  I tried to listen to some of the samples online, but with dialup it is painfully slow.  I don’t know much about the music, but you gotta love a guy who can write and produce 12 songs about cycling.  Limited audience for sure, but I respect his cycling passion.  You can tell from his picture that he is a genuine cyclist.  Look how skinny he is!  You can check out his music and bio, etc. at his web site:  www.bikerockmusic.com

“Amazing Grace” the lyrics

March 14, 2007

Not many songs have the enduring value of this one.  This version from the movie web site contains a more recent addition to the verses.  I like it.

Amazing
Grace (How sweet the sound)
That sav’d a wretch like me!
I once was lost,
but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see. Read the rest of this entry ?

Amazing Grace – The Movie Part Two

March 14, 2007

I was so impressed by the story of William Wilberforce after watching “Amazing Grace” that I decided to do a little more reading about his life.  While searching the internet I discovered that John Piper, pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church, had written a short biography on Wilberforce. Amazing Grace – The Movie

March 14, 2007

Monica and I went to watch “Amazing Grace” last week.  We didn’t realize it was also the opening night for “300.”  The parking lot of the theatre was jammed with cars and there was a line of people out to the street.  The line was just for people who had come to see “300,” and we went right by it and into the theatre where “Amazing Grace” was showing. Waiting on God

March 7, 2007

The very words “a promise from God” imply time between the promise spoken and the reality experienced.   Promises are about the future.   Promises involve looking forward to something.  Promises require faith in the one who made the promise. Read the rest of this entry ?

American Idol – Should I be watching?

March 7, 2007

My wife and I have enjoyed watching American Idol for several seasons now. I’m not sure I can continue to do so with a clear conscience anymore.  Hear me out before you assume an over active sensitivity or a bad case of Pharisism.  Read the rest of this entry ?

What I Ought to be Doing Right Now

March 6, 2007

Is there such a thing as perfect weather? I suppose that is really a matter of personal taste, but right now is about as close as it gets. It is about 70 out right now, very little wind, clear skies…and I’m wondering what I’m doing in the office. I ought to be on my bike right now.
